在西方語境裡，「Blue」不只是顏色，它同時意味著憂鬱與靈魂的深沉。Blues 音樂誕生於19世紀美國黑人在壓迫中自我表達的聲音，藉由低迴的旋律、即興的節奏，把悲傷轉化為力量，把苦痛升華為美感。
在壓抑與邊緣的現實裡，他們透過音樂創造出一種新的存在方式 —— 用「聲音」為自己立場發聲。

In the Western lexicon, Blue transcends mere color; it signifies both profound melancholy and the deep recesses of the soul. The birth of Blues music in 19th-century America was a sonic act of self-expression by an oppressed African-American populace, an alchemy that transmuted sorrow into strength and suffering into aesthetic grace through its low-wailing melodies and improvisational rhythms.
Within the confines of a marginalized reality, they forged a new mode of existence through music—an assertion of self articulated through sound.
The blue deployed in this work serves dual roles: it is a meditative expanse, akin to the deep sea, and simultaneously the kinetic pulse of jazz improvisation. It invites the spectator to move beyond the visual to perceive a cultural current of vitality (or: a dynamic cultural flow of energy). As we gaze upon this expanse of blue, we don’t just register the chromatic serenity, but also hear the historical resonance of the Blues—an echo of the African-American culture’s yearning for freedom and affirmation of existence.
This “respiratory flow” (or: this ebb and flow of breath), with its innate sense of movement, forms a striking counterpoint to the undulations of blue light and shadow within the piece. It is like the nature of Jazz improvisation itself, constantly mutating and re-shaping itself in alignment with the energy and the present moment.
The “Blue Pulse” flows and breathes against the backdrop of jazz, a potent reminder that the power of culture resides not in its fixed form, but in its capacity to let us feel the authentic, living cadence of existence.
